Stonington Police Conduct Tobacco, Vape Sales Compliance … – Patch.com

STONINGTON, CT — On Tuesday, the Stonington Police Department and staff members of the Southeastern Regional Action Council (SERAC), conducted unannounced compliance inspections of establishments that sell tobacco and vape products.

Police said the inspections were part of an effort to “determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale of tobacco/vape products, including cigarettes and electronic cigarettes, to youth under the age of eighteen,” according to a release.

According to police, an underage youth employed by SERAC entered 12 establishments in Mystic, Stonington and Pawcatuck and attempted to purchase tobacco products.

Establishments found to be in violation, according to police, included:

Chuckies Sunoco Gas Station – 60 South Broad Street, PawcatuckMystic Mobil – 66 Whitehall Avenue, MysticMobil Gas Station – 34 East Main Street, MysticStonington Shell – 522 Stonington Road, Stonington

Police said the accused clerks at these establishments were issued a $200 infraction.
