Sandburg Student Caught Vaping in Locker Room: Report –

ORLAND PARK, IL — Sandburg High School made good on its promise to refer students caught smoking electronic cigarettes on campus to Orland Park police after an 18-year-old student was caught vaping on Nov. 9. Sandburg principal Deborah Baker recently sent out a letter to parents warning that smoking e-cigarettes on campus would not be tolerated. Parents would also be notified when their children are caught vaping.

According to an Orland Park police report, a teacher caught the 18-year-old male student smoking an electronic cigarette in the boys’ PE locker room. A referral sent to to the school dean stated that the teacher walked into the locker room around 9 a.m. and noticed the student using an orange vape pen. When the teacher saw the student vape a second time, he confiscated two Phix e-cigarettes and a charger vape, reports said. The student was marched to the dean’s office.

The dean notified Orland Park police and said he wanted to sign a complaint. The student was issued a municipal violating the smoking ban
