RCPD: Driver who hit pedestrian had vision blocked by vape cloud – Newscenter1.tv

RAPID CITY, S.D. –

A pedestrian was injured Monday night after being struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.

Police said the pedestrian had the right of way while using a crosswalk at the intersection of Main Street and Mount Rushmore Road.

The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian. But police also determined that the driver’s vision was obstructed at the time by a cloud exhaled after using a vape pen.

Police issued the following warning after the crash:

“If you choose to ‘vape’ and drive, it is highly encouraged you roll your windows down to avoid the obstruction of your vision while operating a motor vehicle.”
