Pono Life Maui resumed operations on Monday after the state Department of Health suspended the notice revoking its medical cannabis dispensary license.

The department had issued the notice of violation and order to revoke the license of Pono Life Sciences Maui LLC and its individual licensee, Dr. William Mitchell Jr., for a period of up to 120 days from May 28 due to their ongoing failure to submit annual independent financial audits a required by state law, the department said.

Pono Life Maui was allowed to resume medical cannabis production and retail operations during the period pending submission of the audits. During the suspension of the notice of violation and order, the licensee has up to 60 days to submit the 2017 audit, 90 days to submit the 2018 audit and 120 days to submit the 2019 audit.

Failure to submit any of the audits within the specified time frame will result in an automatic revocation of the license, the department said. Pono Life Maui must also conduct operations in full requirements of state law governing medical cannabis dispensaries or lose its license.
