Leverett teen accused of stealing vape machine, other items in Amherst smoke shop break-in – MassLive.com

AMHERST — A 16-year-old who allegedly broke into a downtown smoke shop, stole a vape machine and other items and then used his bicycle to ward off passers-by who tried to intervene will be arraigned in juvenile court on a number of charges. 

The suspect, a Leverett resident, is facing charges of destruction of property, breaking and entering in the nighttime, larceny from a building and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Police said the teen broke a window at the Exscape Smoke Shop at 96 North Pleasant St. and took more than $250 worth of merchandise from including oils, pipes and a vape machine.

When witnesses approached him, police said, the teen used is bicycle to push them away, prompting the assault charge.

He is expected to be arraigned in Hadley Juvenile Court Monday.

Police typically do not identify juvenile suspects, and juvenile court records are not open to public inspection.
