FRAMINGHAM — A plea for leniency from the owner of a new vaping shop in Framingham Centre fell on deaf ears Monday, leaving his fledgling business in danger of shutting down.

Chris Kolacz, owner of Vape Kings at 931 Worcester Road, recently received a cease-and-desist letter from the city because his electronic cigarette store does not have a permit to sell tobacco products.

Kolacz, who owns another shop in Plymouth, said the order took him by surprise because town staff told him during a phone call last year that no permit was necessary.

Addressing the Board of Health Monday, Kolacz asked for temporary permission to continue operating the shop, saying he signed a two-year lease and invested thousands to renovate the building.

“At this point, I’m here, by mercy, asking you guys to help me,” he said, “because I’ve literally invested everything I have. I’m a single father. The mother’s not in the situation. I have full custody of my two children that are 6 and 4, and literally this decision from the town
