San Antonio dispensaries split on pulling delta-8 cannabis products – KENS5.com

Texas’s health department added delta-8 products to its controlled substance list this week, prompting some sellers to throw out gummies and tinctures.

SAN ANTONIO — Stash CBD’s inventory was thinner Thursday after Owner Ruben Mendoza tossed his delta-8 cannabis products last weekend.

“All of it had to get pulled,” said Mendoza, adding delta-8 items accounted for about 30% of his sales.

The Texas Department of State Health Services last weekend added the compound to its list of controlled substances which includes heroine and LSD.

Texas offered no warning or time for Mendoza to prepare, he said.

“It looks like we’re going to have to push more CBD product and figure out how to fill gaps in my product line,” he said.

Delta-8 is a strain of THC, an intoxicating chemical found in cannabis plants. It is not as potent as delta-9 THC, which is the psychoactive ingredient most often associated with marijuana.

While chemically similar, the two THC strains have a double bond on different carbons within their molecular chains.

Texans had been buying the compound, often in the form of gummies, tinctures or

Big jury award could open door to another cannabis dispensary in Richmond – Richmond Confidential

A court case last month possibly set the stage for a new cannabis dispensary in Richmond, the resurrection of an old fight to keep it out — or both.

Two Richmond dispensary owners were ordered to pay $5 million in damages for conspiring against a rival owner. On Sept. 23, a Contra Costa County jury found that William Koziol and Darrin Parle, who operate the Green Remedy Collective, had prevented a prospective dispensary, Richmond Compassionate Care Collective, from establishing a business in Richmond. The jury awarded $5 million in damages to RCCC.

The decision ends a legal battle that has stretched for more than five years, beginning before recreational cannabis use was legal in California. And it may have revived RCCC’s attempt to set up shop in Richmond, which many residents had opposed in the years leading up to the lawsuit.

RCCC’s owners are  “going to make every effort to go back to the City Council and say that they were wrongfully deprived of their permit,” said Ron Foreman, who presented RCCC in the case.

Lina Velasco, community development director who manages cannabis permits for the city, declined to comment on RCCC’s potential to receive a permit.

RCCC filed the

JARS Cannabis plans two more West Michigan dispensaries in Muskegon, Saugatuck – MiBiz: West Michigan Business News

Multi-state retailer JARS Cannabis has announced plans for two more West Michigan dispensaries following the recent completion of a store in Grand Rapids.

The company this week announced plans for additional stores in Saugatuck and Muskegon. The company already operates 10 locations in Michigan as well as three in Arizona.

Grand Rapids-based CD Barnes Construction Inc. recently finished construction on JARS’ dispensary at 1815 Alpine Ave. NW in Grand Rapids and is continuing to work with the cannabis company as it expands its footprint in West Michigan.

Demolition work has started at the 2,325-square-foot structure at 2790 Blue Star Highway in Saugatuck, which was the former home of The Amble Inn. The owner of JARS Holdings LLC, Hani Kassab Jr., purchased the property on June 13, 2019 for $350,000, doing business as 2790 Blue Star LLC, according to property records.

The building exterior will remain while the interior is being completely renovated to match JARS’ branding. Ceramic tile, carpet, wainscotting, drop ceilings, hollow metal doors and frames, and customized millwork will be added to the inside of the building, which will also include a patient waiting area, reception area, sales floor and other storage areas.

Medical Marijuana for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Multiple sclerosis or MS is among the most prevalent neurodegenerative diseases in Ohio. MS is also one of the qualifying conditions for obtaining a Ohio medical marijuana card.

MS is triggered when the protective sheath surrounding neurons (myelin) is eroded. This erosion causes an interruption of signals to the central nervous system which in turn impairs motor function and coordination.

The impairment of motor coordination comes with a host of other symptoms such as blurred vision and partial blindness, tremors, numbness, muscle weakness, fatigue, seizures, dizziness, bowel and bladder dysfunction, and slurred speech.

The traditional medications administered to MS patients offer only a temporary respite from symptoms and sadly may induce a number of unpleasant and potentially fatal side-effects.

Can marijuana, a product of the cannabis plant, be used to help MS patients lessen their symptoms? Is marijuana actually safe and effective?

In multiple studies, medical marijuana has been shown to mitigate and possibly eradicate the spasticity and seizures frequently suffered by MS patients. Moreover, unlike traditional pharmaceuticals used to treat MS, marijuana is non-toxic and non-habit forming as long as…

Postal Service Vape Ban Is Now in Effect

The United States Postal Service will issue a final rule Oct. 21 that will end delivery of vaping products through the U.S. Mail. The new USPS rule, which will take effect immediately after publication in the Federal Register, will drastically change online sales and shipping of vaping devices and liquids.

As mandated by Congress in the Preventing Online Sales of E-Cigarettes to Children Act (POSECCA), the final rule will not contain any exceptions for residential delivery of either nicotine or cannabis vaping products (except within the states of Alaska and Hawaii). POSECCA was passed with no opposition and signed into law by President Trump last December as part of the federal budget bill.

In addition to banning vape mail, POSECCA forced vape shippers to comply with the Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking (PACT) Act—a law originally passed in 2009 that until now applied only to cigarettes and smokeless tobacco. The PACT Act imposes strict requirements on shippers, and is enforced by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

The USPS rule was due….
