Vaping a concern in Concord – Wicked Local Concord

The practice of vaping is in the spotlight at Concord-Carlisle Regional High School, and according to Concord’s top health official, several inquires have been made about possibly opening a vape shop in town.

Vaping is the practice of inhaling vapor from an electronic device, like an electronic cigarette. Various substances, including liquids and herbs, are heated up in the device to produce vapor, mimicking the experience of smoking cigarettes. Concord Public Health Director Susan Rask said there’s concern in the public health community nationwide after reports that some vaping products use marijuana and marijuana oils.

CCHS Principal Mike Mastrullo penned a Nov. 15 entry in his school blog that warned of the potential dangers of vaping, stating it’s a “significant cause for concern.”

CCHS is not alone, according to Mastrullo, who stated he’s been contacted by 30 Massachusetts principals concerned about the increase in the number of students in their buildings that are vaping.
