Vape shop raided in Isle of Wight for alleged illegal gambling – WAVY-TV

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) — Authorities on Wednesday busted an alleged illegal gambling operation in Isle of Wight County.

“Gambling is illegal,” said Lieutenant Tommy Potter.

Isle of Wight deputies say that’s exactly what has been happening inside a business for months.

“Since this business opened up, it opened for the sole purpose of running the gambling operation in the back of the store,” Potter added.

The business along Carrollton Boulevard has no signs, but it is called Wicked Vapes.

“We got some complaints from some of the surrounding business owners and some of the residents here in Carrollton about the traffic in and out of this building especially at late night hours,” Potter said.

That’s when deputies began looking into the business. They spent months undercover playing the slot type games on the 39 computers.

“It is very clearly they are exchanging money for a chance to play these games,” Potter said. “They are coming out with cash in hand.”

Deputies also raided the business owner’s home on Nelson Maine. We’re told she took out the business license
