READINGTON TWP. – A 19-year-old township resident suffered burns when vape cigarette in his back pocket exploded on Oct. 26, police said.
Police, the Whitehouse Rescue Squad and Whitehouse Fire Department responded at 1:53 p.m. The teen said he was walking into his house when the vape battery in his rear pants pocket began to spark and caught fire, police said. He was taken to Saint Barnabas hospital for treatment while the fire department evaluated minor burn damage to the floor of his home, police said.

Michael Cloutier, 18, and a female juvenile passenger were arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Patrolman Matt Bast at 12:29 a.m. on Oct. 24, police said.
Bast stopped Cloutier for driving his vehicle in an erratic manner at North Union and Coryell
