Owner of Concord vape shop pleads not guilty to sexual assault of customer – Concord Monitor

The owner of NY Smoke and Vape has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a customer at his Loudon Road store in early September.

Virender Yadav, 61, of Salem, Mass., recently waived his right to an arraignment in Concord’s district court on five misdemeanor charges. Yadav was scheduled to face a judge on Oct. 16, but that hearing was canceled after his attorney, Simon Brown, filed the waiver with the court.

Concord police arrested Yadav on Sept. 6, the same day a woman reported that she was the victim of a sexual assault while shopping at NY Smoke and Vape. She told police Yadav repeatedly hugged her, groped her and tried to kiss her in the store, which is part of a small strip mall near Keach Park.

Detectives said they reviewed video surveillance footage from the store as part of their investigation, which remains open.

Yadav faces three counts of sexual assault and two counts of simple assault in connection with the incident. He was released on $4,000 personal recognizance following his arrest.
