Man catches fire from vape device on I-75 in Wood County – The Blade – Toledo Blade

PORTAGE, Ohio — A truck driver caught fire on I-75 in Wood County when his vape device exploded.

Daniel Reyes, 34, of Amherst, Ohio was driving a tractor-trailer about 11:10 p.m. Thursday on I-75 south near State Rt. 281 when the vape machine in his shirt pocket exploded, setting fire to his body and shirt, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Bowling Green post.

Mr. Reyes pulled over to the shoulder and used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, troopers said.

Mr. Reyes suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. He was then transferred to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
