Upset that he couldn’t find his marijuana vape pen, a Canton man ended up in a choke hold after he argued with his girlfriend of 17 years, a police report said.

Police were summoned to the 900 block of Canterbury, near Haggerty and Cherry Hill, as the dispute unfolded just before 10 p.m. Sunday. No one was seriously injured.

The 41-year-old man had taken prescription pain pills and consumed alcohol before he became upset that he couldn’t find his vape pen, the report said. He confronted his 40-year-old girlfriend about it.

The man told police she found the vape pen, gave it to him, then jumped onto his back and put him in a choke hold, leaving him unable to breathe.

The couple apparently calmed down after police arrived. There was no indication of criminal charges.
